New threats and stormy days lie ahead, featuring deceased fighters that have revived to new challengers trying to understand just what powers they hold. A renowned versus fighter game developed by SNK, KOF XV takes place after the events of its predecessor KOF XIV. All of this is to say, if you enjoy testing your skill against other players, KOF XV services that need fully and then some.Fighters all around the world are taking center stage at the largest martial arts tournament, as the 15th and latest installation to the King of Fighters (KOF) saga is soon to be released. The multiplayer experience is fairly seamless, with snappy functionality and the ability to play 3v3 matches in co-op with friends, where each person controls an individual character in the team. Online play is seemingly a major cornerstone for this release, with a high emphasis being placed on a stable online play experience thanks to improvements made to network stability and the inclusion of rollback netcode. King of Fighters XV focuses on players mastering the mechanics of the game so they can take their skills online. Ranging from the eccentric to the seemingly mundane, KOF is sure to provide you with at least several favourite characters to choose from and spend many hours learning to fully master. With a mixture of both legacy characters and fresh faces, King of Fighters XV has the most eclectic roster I’ve seen in any fighting game. While fighting games are mostly played for flashy special moves and devastating combos to unleash onto unsuspecting friends, character design also plays a huge role in attracting new players. While the main story was disappointing to say the least, the characterization of the game’s huge roster of characters was the exact opposite. You are able to run through story mode with different team combinations and difficulty settings, but the narrative structure will remain the same throughout. Even worse is the inherent need to be caught up with where the previous entries’ story left off, leaving new players scratching their heads at what little story is presented in the single hour of playtime that is available. Unlike other fighting games that are celebrated for the attention given to telling an in-game story, KOF XV’s narrative is severely lacking. For newcomers like me, you’ll most definitely find your favourite characters and playstyles and use that as the basis on which you select your all-star team. While not a tag-team fighter by any means, the ability to pick from your personal favourite characters, allowing you to essentially learn three characters at once, makes for an interesting play dynamic. With 39 characters to choose from and various stages to stake your claim on as the best fighter of them all, KOF XV aims to be the definitive version of the legendary fighting game.Ī 3v3 fighter, KOF allows for unique matchups between combatants that can make for exciting comebacks and exhilarating standoffs. It’s been nearly 6 years since the last instalment in the franchise’s long history, and its most recent release proves to be the most feature-rich version of the fighter yet. KING THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV SERIESThe King of Fighters series has been a fighting game staple since the early 90s and has continued to retain massive audiences of devoted players for over two decades. This anvil also has a piece of inner tube between the anvil and the steel plate and it is just as quiet as the wood mount. Two pieces of angle iron go over the base ends of the anvil and are bolted to the top plate. I have a couple hardy racks welded to the side and a shelf welded between the flanges to the web. The base is a piece of 12" I-beam on end of the proper height with a rectangular base of 1/2" steel plate which is slightly larger that the I-beam and a top which is also plate but the size of the I-beam. The second anvil is a 165# Kohlswa mounted on a steel base that I built. This anvil is securely bolted to the wood with a piece of truck tire inner tube between the anvil and the wood. I have two anvils in my shop, a 250# Kohlswa mounted on an 8 foot piece of 12" x 16" rock maple set 6' into the ground. If you buy crushed sand it'll pack like concrete without bonding and your anvil isn't going anywhere unless you make it. as the grains are rounded so it's like using a bag of marbles to mound something on. This is really only a problem if you use alluvial sand from a beach, creak, etc. The one down check you see for sandbox stands is the need to adjust them regularly as the sand shifts. They're quiet, the quietest I've encountered, sand doesn't resonate for beans unless you're an earthquake. you can move it pretty easily by dumping the sand. First it's really easy to adjust the height by adjusting the sand under it. I have used an anvil mounted on a sandbox and highly recommend this type stand for a number of reasons. The wood block damps the Sodorfors, HC steel face on a cast steel body but it takes almost a second, the wood itself doesn't damp the vibrations, the tight mortice does. The anvil is loud but quiets almost immediately. The steel stand has a different resonant frequency so they damp each other in a couple resonant bounces. The Trenton is on the steel stand and is far quieter than it was on wood. It is however a real ear buster but it IS a Sodorfors. The Sodorfors is morticed into the spruce block when it was green so the anvil is shrink fit and doesn't move. Anywho, I have one anvil mounted on a spruce block and the other on a steel tripod stand. Take the bark off to keep the bug and fungus problem down, or you will have to add wildlife ID to your skills list.īuilt up bases of 2 bys or larger work if you use lots of construction adhesive/lag screws/all-thread to secure it together.Īndy: As usual, ask two blacksmiths a question and you'll get 3-4 answers, let alone a fora with a few thousand members. If the base is slightly cupped so that it rests on the rim, so much the better. Just make sure the top and bottom cuts are parallel. Unless your stump is rotten like balsa, a whole chunk of any species green tree trunk ought to be plenty sturdy. Just remember at demos that there may be underground utilities or lawn sprinkler systems. Foot plates with holes to spike it to the earth, or use concrete anchors, are a bonus. Just make sure that you tie the legs together just above ground level with a 'Y' or 'H' brace to prevent hopping when you pound on it. If it weighs 2X more than the anvil, so much the better. You want the heaviest, thickest angle, pipe or plate you can lay hands on. Save the bedrail and thin pipe for tong stands. IMNSHO, the rigidity of the stand is more important than the material. Georgina Howell, in her 1998 book Diana, Her Life in Fashion, wrote that the dress was "possibly the most strategic dress ever worn by a woman in modern times", further describing it as a "devastating wisp of black chiffon" with which Diana "flipped her husband clean off the front pages" following the broadcast of the programme. Caroline McCauley wrote that instead of "cowering in shame" following Charles's admission, "Diana arrived in a figure-hugging black silk dress with a pearl choker necklace, black pumps, and scarlet lipstick and nail polish". The dress was analyzed by Caroline McCauley in Fashion, Agency, and Empowerment: Performing Agency, Following Script, and it was interpreted as part of Diana's couture of "revenge" following the breakdown of her marriage to Charles after years of having "snippets of a seductive glamour hidden by a proper royal purity". But also: fashion hath no greater thrill than when being deployed for the purpose of expressing rage, froideur or an insouciant dose of 'look what you're missing '". Holt wrote, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. In 2020, writing for The Daily Telegraph Bethan Holt stated that the dress encompassed "the act of reclaiming the narrative", and was the "ultimate modern example of revenge dressing", in an article about women who have found inspiration in Diana Spencer's choice of the dress. Įlle Pithers, writing for Vogue magazine, described the dress as the "progenitor of 'revenge dressing '". It's amazing what some people will do to avoid press speculation. She could have watched a video, played bridge or simply washed her hair and curled up in bed. The Princess of Wales did not have to dine out before the television cameras at the Serpentine Gallery last night in order to avoid seeing her husband sharing his soul with the nation on the box. The day following the event, The Daily Telegraph wrote: Palumbo later recalled that Diana "bounded out of the car in that wonderfully athletic way that she had". The photographer who captured Diana arriving at the event, Tim Graham, said that her arrival lasted only 30 seconds in total, and that Diana would have known a large number of photographers would be present following her husband's revelations. ĭiana was seen wearing the dress after she exited her car and was greeted by Lord Palumbo, the chair of the trustees of the Serpentine Gallery, before entering the gallery. Diana's biographer Sarah Bradford wrote that Diana "feigned indifference" in regards to the programme. Charles and Diana had separated two years prior to the broadcast of the programme. The dinner was held on the night that a television programme about her husband King Charles III was broadcast, in which he admitted to having been unfaithful to her after their marriage had "irretrievably broken down". Diana had declined the dinner invitation however, two days prior to the dinner, following several days' publicity of Charles' infidelity revelations, she accepted the invitation. The event to which the dress was worn was a 29 June 1994 fundraising dinner hosted by Vanity Fair magazine for the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens. Anna Harvey, Diana's former stylist, said that Diana "wanted to look a million dollars. Diana had planned to wear a dress by Valentino before choosing Stambolian's design. She was clearly angry." Diana had owned the dress for three years before she wore it, fearing it was "too daring". Stambolian compared Diana's choice of black to the black swan Odile in Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake, saying that Diana "chose not to play the scene like Odette, innocent in white. The dress, an off the shoulder black silk evening gown, was designed by Christina Stambolian. Well, I never got invested in it, other than hope and poking at it a bit once someone gave me access. Or to worry about said performance problems, if they did. But no-one inside seemed to give it a good hard run in the "real world". Maybe it ran fine on internal "Core++" or whatever, ueber-motherboard and maxed RAM Google machines with local hops to the server. (If you could even talk them into giving the beta a try. That "lag" (to be generous in description), combined with a healthy dose of "mystery meat" UI. They let front end development hang this very Javascript-heavy UI on it that bogged down "normal" machines, making the end-user experience rather miserable. Finding any bit of information in those was a giant PIA who knows into which form they entered it, if at all, and even when they did, it was surrounded by tons of boilerplate that made it disappear into that "haystack".) "project documentation skeletons" expanded from Lotus Notes templates, that left ginormous subtrees of "forms" that were often very sparsely, if at all, completed - said completion being entirely, manually dependent upon the individual doing the work. Note the off-boarding facility, in that short of termination, if someone left a project, you (normal PM or dev lead or whatever roll) could take them off the access lists for the shared communications and you could all go your separate ways with a clean, definable and documented break.Īnd a bunch of stuff that's long since left my immediately accessible, conscious memory. It enabled team-level permissions for both on-boarding and off-boarding of new parties: New team members, etc - like above. a new team member or another interested party (new manager, legal, possibly even a third party).Īdd people to the project/communications' access list(s), and they not only gained participation (without eveyone having to remember to add them to the list of addressees on new emails) but also access to the historical record. It could prevent "submarining" of communication into email chains and instant messaging conversations inaccessible to those not addressed or cc-ed, also preventing the time-burning, frustrating, and often incomplete "email dive" someone would have to perform to find and forward all these emails to e.g. Wave solved problems I encountered in commercial (large scale corporations) work. I wish they had have nailed it, because I'm positive there was a good idea underneath it. Then they went to the"invite-only" phase - and suddenly the whole thing became a ghost-town, and there was no incentive to open your wave client. Like sending a slack message to every slack channel! Chaos! You could actually "reply all" to EVERYONE. First it was the "developer-version" where everyone could pile-on - and it was madness. It was a pretty exciting concept to me that ALL of my interactions for various disqus-like random posts, emails, blog comments, forum replies etc - could be handled from the Wave client.īut they realllly bodged the roll out. When anyone posted a comment on my blog, it would appear my Wave client inbox like it was a regular-ol' email thread - and I could reply in-place (and real-time). My favourite feature of it was to replace/augment the comment fields on my blog posts with "waves". It was like slack, but way better! I'm still sad it died, and still secretly hoping someone is working on "Wave Phoenix". While gmail has taken in some of the features, it hasn't absorbed the core goal of the project. The Inbox product as a whole had a strong focus on trying to reduce the interruption of your email and keep your inbox clean. I don't get this same feeling with gmail. In Inbox, I feel like I can control how much email interrupts me without also missing anything important. Gmail kind of has the "tabbed inbox", but you can't configure the categories with the flexibility that bundles had. I can't create custom bundles to hide large groups of emails I don't want to accidentally bury other content (without actually removing them from the inbox). As far as I know, there's no way for me to tell gmail to group a set of emails together and only alert / show them to me once per day at a certain time, like you can with Inbox. Other specific features are missing that help with email fatigue. I spent an hour turning off things in gmail trying to clean it up after the announcement, and it still looks too busy. The interface on Inbox is _much_ less cluttered. I will say this car is much better than people are claiming. That’s poor but I guess there’s no stopping that. It disappoints me that cars are literally picked apart by people who have never laid eyes on the actual cars. What that nets out is not a lot to fund the restoration that is needed, so the buyer may need to be more interested in the rarity of their newly acquired prize as opposed to its resale value when the dust settles. Add to this the rare engine and subtract the overall condition of the car. Hagerty comments that $20,000 is what a nice ’72 Centurion ragtop should go for. We see little of the interior, but the front seat looks to have a slit working on the driver’s side bottom. Everything the seller says about the car’s heritage should be backed up by the factory build sheet which is also provided. We believe the gas tank has been replaced, but they’re so hard to come by that the seller says he kept the original and will pass it along to the buyer. Under the hood resides the original 455 High-Performance V8, which is said to run, but only off an external bottle, for the time being.
When someone has learned to oppress their needs in order to meet the rigid criteria of a church or religious experience, this often leads to a lack of development in their own decision-making skills. Similarly, depression can happen for any number of reasons in an oppressive environment and the depressed feelings only darken as the religious leaders tell the person they are “wrong”, “sick” or “influenced by Satan” when feeling sad, down, or depressed. When a congregant begins to feel anxious about messing up or disappointing the leaderships, then the anxiety begins to swell and pour over into all areas of life. These can happen after any trauma, but depression and anxiety are common after significant repression of needs. There might also be a felt sense of immaturity when it comes to humor, point of view on issues, understanding world issues or events happening in the community, and ways of managing conflict.ĭepression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns. Sometimes survivors speak of feeling “really behind” their peers in school and finding themselves in adult relationships where they feel unprepared to deal with the emotional task of relating to others well. This can include sexual, social, relational, and emotional development. There’s some additional symptoms that can happen after religious abuse: Someone that has experienced religious trauma might experience symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and you can read more about that here. The impact of religious trauma can be pervasive and it’s important to get the support of a therapist if you believe that you’ve survived religious trauma. What are the symptoms of religious trauma? Using scripture to humiliate or embarrass the members of a congregation. The main motivation tactic in the community is guilt, shame and fear. Leaders in positions of power coercing or forcing young members to participate in religious ceremonies and use fear of hell or punishment as a tactic for convincing. Here are some examples of things that are oppressive and potentially traumatic for members of a spiritual community:Ī religious leader creating too much fear about congregants trusting government or outside sources of authorityĬhurches requiring financial participation or sacrifice in order for people to have access to the same “blessings” from God. Religious trauma can happen from a number of different experiences within a church or spiritual community, whether it’s the messages being relentlessly taught or the interactions that one has with the leadership or people in power. When these congregations become spaces where the followers experience psychological abuse, shameful messages around their personhood or emotions, and live with a constant fear of punishment from a god figure, then the followers begin to lose a sense of autonomy, ability to ask questions, or leave the community when they feel uncomfortable. Religious and spiritual experiences are meant to be safe spaces of communing with others and connecting over a shared belief system. When these intense and emotional environments become coercive, overpowering, manipulating and rigid, they become abusive and traumatic. #Religious trauma full#Religious environments can be intense and full of emotion. This overwhelms the system and causes our nervous systems to feel temporarily overwhelmed, which initiates our survival mechanisms of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn.
